Asian Gardens of the 1920s: The travels of Elizabeth K. Roys
On September 13, Betsy Anderson, curator of the Asian Gardens of the 1920s exhibit,
gave a presentation at Olbrich Gardens, exploring Elizabeth Roy's notebooks with her
photographs, drawings and written descriptions that captured Asian gardens of a
vanished era. Roys was born in China in 1905 to Presbyterian missionaries. Roys visited
gardens in Japan, Korea, China,. Siam (Thailand), and India. She had a strong
connection to Olbrich Gardens as she and husband Nash Williams settled in Madison to
raise a family. -- Videography by Dennis Alfred M. Pascual
