Bayview Foundation's
24th Triangle Ethnic Fest
A Video Report by Heidi M. Pascual

     If you are looking for a truly multicultural community get-together in the City of Madison, then the
annual Triangle Ethnic Fest hosted by the Bayview Foundation is it. Every year in August, the Triangle
Ethnic Fest, held at the triangle tip of Regent St., W. Washington Ave. and Park Street, attracts a
multitude of people in Madison and neighboring areas to enjoy a full day of entertainment coming
from local ethnic groups -- African American, Asian American, Latino, Euro-American, Native
American -- as well as an array of food offerings from local restaurants specializing in traditional
non-American dishes, and arts and crafts from all over the world.
     This year's event was held on August 17, and the weather was perfect! Last year's event was
cancelled due to heavy rains, and everyone in the neighborhood was just saddened that the most
anticipated get-together didn't happen. People were excited to carry out this year's fest with bigger
offerings and features. In addition to the big entertainment numbers onstage, there was a children's art
exhibit on the second floor of Bayview Neighborhood Center, with artist Taylor Franklin answering
questions from visitors. Other features included: a fun run, a children's museum, a silent auction,
children's games/activities such as a dunk tank, cotton candy and snowcones. Performers, who were
the headliners of the festival were: All Around the World Hip Hop Dance Group; Madison Keng Boys;
Hmong Siosters Dance Troupe; Salaam Shalom (Greenbush ensemble); Folklore Village International
Dancers; Nueva Cancion; Sadira & the Raid Dance company; Dando Mambo Dance Company;
Eastern Wave Lao Band; MadCity Tango; Atimevu Drum and Dance; Meenakshi Ganesan & Kalaanjali
Dance Co., and more! Below is a brief video coverage of most of the day's performances. Enjoy!
