Payment Options

To help you manage and budget for your energy costs, MGE offers a number of billing and
payment options.

Automatic payment (Electronic Funds Transfer)
Pay your MGE energy bill automatically on the date it is due from your checking or savings
account with EFT.   

Check Payment
When you pay your MGE bill by check, you authorize us to process your check payment from your
checking account electronically. This will shorten the time it takes to process your payment.
Funds may be withdrawn from your checking account on the same day we receive your check.

Online payment
View and pay your MGE energy bill online. MGE has selected CheckFree, the Web's largest and
most secure processor, to provide this service. This service is free, easy and secure.

Pay by mail
For your convenience, we provide a return-payment envelope with your bill.

If you have misplaced your bill payment envelope, please send your payment and bill stub to:

Madison, WI 53701-1231

If you do not have your payment stub, please be sure to note on your check the name to whom
the bill was sent and your eight-digit account number if you have it.

Pay in person
Make your bill payments at MGE's Madison office or our branch locations in Elroy, Prairie du
Chien, or Viroqua. Or pay at several retail outlets where a $1.00 per transaction fee applies.

Pay by phone
To make your MGE payment by phone, call 1-800-526-5995 and pay using:

Electronic check for a handling fee of $5.95.
Credit card for a handling fee of $5.95 (maximum payment of $600.00 per transaction).
Budget Payment Plan
Our Residential Customers can budget for your winter heating or summer cooling costs by
spreading them over 11 months.
