UW-Madison Association of Asian American Graduate Students' Fall Event
"Asian American Activism in Practice; Learning from Each Other"
A video report by Heidi M. Pascual
On Nov. 13, AAAGS conducted its first-ever workshop about the practical applications
to activism geared toward a broad audience of undergraduate, graduate, and community
members. The participants in this video clip actively shared their ideas in smaller
break-out sessions on the ff topics: media portrayals, the impact of immigration reform,
racial quotas in school admissions, and racially motivated hate crimes. Ray Hsu, a Ph.D.
candidate in English Literary studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was the
speaker, while Anthony Yuen, a graduate of Education M.Ed. and Asian American Studies
M.A. programs at UCLA, was the facilitator.
Watch for the story on this AAAGS initiative in a future issue of Asian Wisconzine, print
and online. Meanwhile, see our first attempt at videotaping an event, editing video clips,
and posting it online! Thanks for reading ... and supporting Asian Wisconzine!
