Lanterns for Peace
      "Lanterns for Peace" was held on Aug. 7, 2009. at Tenney Park
Shelter in Madison, Wisconsin, to remember those who have died by
the use of nuclear weapons in war, and to reflect on visions of a peaceful world.
After a program composed of group singing and speeches by
Japanese Professor Teruko Shiny'ya and Jennifer Nordstrom (Carbon-Free
Nuclear-Free Campaign), lanterns were released to float on the Tenney Park
waters. Paula Rogge emceed.     
     Cosponsors of this event were the Madison Area Peace Coalition,
Physicians for Social Responsibility - Wisconsin, United Nations Association of
Dane County, and Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice.— Heidi M. Pascual
