The road less taken
By Maria Fe Rebudiao
I am taking the road less travelled...
wherever that may lead,
I do not expect my friends to go with me there.
This road is narrow and quiet,
but I will be content
because love will be with me.
I only expect that they accept
the choices that I make.
It is only with my family
with whom I lovingly partake myself,
from them I will ask understanding
because it is with them
that I will take on that journey
for better or worse; come what may.
Some friends we meet a short while
but make profound statements
in theirs and our lives;
to some, we make lifetime links;
the others well, who knows...
maybe they're just mistakes.
However, in the course of our lives
as friends we go separate ways
whether we like it or not;
either we let go or left behind...
we let them be the person
they want and ought to be
so that they maybe able to brace themselves
in a changing world.
There is nothing permanent
in this world but change;
it is also the only thing that's permanent.
We meet, we love, laugh, toil,
we learn and cry together along the way.
As we go on living, we change...
we move on...
but we never forget.*
