Aastha & Ben Miranpuri-Wedding Reception
A Sikh Wedding celebration in Madison
A video report by Heidi M. Pascual

On July 27, 2008, medical doctors Aastha and Ben Miranpuri shared their happy wedding
celebration with their families, relatives and friends in Madison, Wisconsin's Monona Terrace
Community & Convention Center. The couple got married in a traditional Sikh wedding ceremony
in Punjab last year, a big event that took several days to complete. Attendees to this reception in
Madison had a glimpse of what transpired in that special Punjabi celebration through a slide
presentation by Dr. Satwant Dhillon, of the phases Aastha and Ben went through, leading up to
their wedding. Several speakers from the families, colleagues and friends, rose to honor the
couple.
It is important to note that Aastha and Ben's medical profession, which is their choice to serve
humanity, was highlighted in the speech of Dr. Dempsey (UW-Dept. of Neurosurgery), as well as
the couple's talents in music and athletics, and high academic scholarship. Their faith, love and
traditional values, Dempsey said, put Aastha and Ben beyond the ordinary. The groom's father,
Dr. Gurwattan Miranpuri, sang a beautiful song for his youngest son and his beautiful bride. After
dinner, the attendees, young and old, took the dance floor in another hall, to the tune of traditional
Punjabi music. Performances were also dedicated to the new couple.
