Milwaukee Woman of the Year: Dr. Violeta Singson
The Filipino community in Wisconsin is proud to announce that Dr.
Violeta Singson, medical director of the Philippine Center’s Free Clinic
in Milwaukee, won the Milwaukee Woman of the Year! She bested 179
nominees primarily because of her unsurpassed community service to
the underprivileged people in the Milwaukee area.
She received a trophy, Macy’s shopping spree certificates worth
$5,000, and $1,010 (from this year’s sponsors, Milwaukee Chevy
Dealers) to go to a charity of her choice. Her charity of choice was none
other than the Phjilippine Center’s Building Fund. True to form, Volette
further donated $1,000 of Macy’s shopping-spree certificates to FAAWIS
(Filipino American Association of Wisconsin) Christmas Party
Committee for the purchase of gifts for children, while other certificates
went to some volunteers of the Free Clinic.
