On June 21, 2008, Olbrich Botanical Gardens celebrated the majestic Thai
Pavilion and Garden, honoring Olbrich’s special connection with the University of
Wisconsin-Madison and the UW Alumni Association-Thai Chapter. Many
Madisonians celebrated with honorary chairs for this year’s Rhapsody in Bloom
gala, UW Chancellor John Wiley and Georgia Wiley. Before dinner, Thai dancers
from Milwaukee's Thai American Association performed traditional dances in
colorful garments, accompanied by an authentic Thai instrument, the ranad-ek.
