April 26 was a very special day for students of
Meenakshi Ganesan [left] (founder and artistic director
of Kalaanjali School of Dance and Music), as well as
their proud parents. It was their Annual Day, a “recital”
or “commencement exercises” of sorts, as the
students belonging to different levels of skills showed
what they have learned from their guru onstage at
Verona High School Performing Arts Center. It was a
proud reflection of the students’ love for Bharatnatyam
classical dance, and their parents’ desire to keep this
important Indian cultural gem a part of their children’s
being.
