Madison Area Telugu Association Ugadi celebrations 2009
|
The Madison Area Telugu Association celebrated Ugadi (New Year)
with an intergenerational program and a community feast on April 4 at
Verona Area High School in Verona, Wis. Aside from well- rehearsed
performances by Bharatnatyam dancers of Kalaanjali and Spandan
Schools of Dance, there was a marked increase of numbers from little
boys dancing onstage compared to other Indian events before this
one. The Vande Mataram dance by the women, choreographed by
Aruna Rajagopal, was a hit, as well as the dance fusion of western and
classical music by UW students led by Sunil Sankara.
It was a indeed a big welcome to start the year! -HMPascual
