South Asia Forum presents
Yoni Ki Baat
Videography by Dennis Alfred M. Pascual
For the first time at the UW-Madison campus, and perhaps in Madison, Wis., a "bold" performance by
young women "perceived" to be very conservative (perhaps because of their parents' original country and
their cultures and religions), was held at the Memorial Union's Play Circle on April 11, 2009.
South Asia Forum-Madison presented "Yoni Ki Baat" (Talk of the Vagina), a monologue of different
young women of South Asian descent who struggle in parallel cultures, focused exclusively on their
feminine sexuality, desires and hopes. Directed and produced by Ayeshah Emon and Snigdha Singh,
"Yoni Ki Baat" surely got the word out about feelings kept so long by South Asian women who grew up in
America. It was a very creative way to express them.-Heidi M. Pascual
