Thai Fest at Olbrich
It was definitely a cultural experience for
Madisonians. They were treated to great performances
by the Thai Culture and Fine Arts Institute of Chicago
during the Thai Fest at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens
Sept. 14. It was very interesting to observe a simulation
of a Thai wedding ceremony where guests, including the
Royal Thai Consul-General Narong Sasitorn and his
wife Chantana, were allowed to actually participate.
There were also cultural displays and musical numbers
offered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Thai
Student Association. The event was another indication of
a tight connection between Thailand and Wisconsin. —
