| Celebrating Youth 2007 |
| The 8th annual Celebrating Youth fest, held January 28 at Monona Terrace, wasn't just about youth performances, games, and entertainment. It was more a celebration of the diverse cultures in Wisconsin, with an overall theme of interconnectedness that makes up the circle of life. A number of Asian American groups showcased their cultures in dance, notably the Philippine-American Association of Madison and Neighboring Areas (PAMANA), with Tinikling, Bulaklakan, and Sayaw sa Bangko; Kalaanjali School of Indian Dance; Hua Mulan Chinese Dance Company; the Okinawan Taiko Drummers of West High School; and the WisconsinTibetan Association. They came full force with families, friends and relatives. The Tai Chi Animal Frolics, a diverse group of kids, combined Tai Chi (a Chinese exercise) with an ancient style of health-enhancing movement. Tibetan youth performances likewise awed huge crowds! The Wisconsin Youth Company deserves a big "Thank You!" for this wonderful community gathering celebrating our youth! |
