The University of Wisconsin Chinese Students & Scholars Association celebrated with the Madison community the 2008 Spring Festival Gala on
February 3, 2008 at the Wisconsin Union Theater in Madison, Wis.  The local Chinese community participated with several numbers performed by
children and young adults from local Chinese schools and dance groups. To all, the gathering was a celebration of the Chinese culture, the
Chinese family, and the Chinese community.
Under the direction of Dalian Urbonya and Yi Wang, the show was a big success, full of fun, colorful costumes, lively music and new dances. A
Mongolian folk dance fused with Spanish Flamenco (led by Dalian and Tania Tandias) was a big hit.  The Madison Area Chinese Cultural
Organization (MACCO)''s Tai Qi number titled "Qian Long Shan,"  was fluid in synchronized movements. Children dancers were students from the
Madison Fine Arts Children Center (directed by Ping Huang); the Madison Chinese Language School & Eagle Heights Dance Group; and the Hua
Yun Dance Groupe (directed by Jinxiu Huang). Other numbers were vocal solos, a piano and violin duet, a harp performance, and GuZheng. The
Asian Pacific Dance Study Group (directed by Joy Chen) also did a celebratory dance. Finally, the event won't be the same without the Lion Dance
presented by the Kung Fu Association (directed by Zhong Yi). Emcees were Yi Wang and Ar Kuang; with Jong May Urbonya and Xuesong Wang as
guest emcees.
