Year for the State of
Wisconsin (u.S.-SBA)
Every New Year gives me a feeling of rebirth, a new hope springing from a renewed burst of energy and enthusiasm to proceed
further in my pursuit of my American Dream — the success of Asian Wisconzine.
My friends, Asian Wisconzine is three years old, still a baby that needs my tender loving care and undivided attention. With God’s
help, I’m proud to say that Asian Wisconzine is growing healthy and strong, despite never-ending challenges every step of the
way. I’m happy to report that we have accomplished the following the past three years:
1) Yours truly received the 2006 Journalist of the Year Award from the U.S.-Small Business Administration;
2) Asian Wisconzine (AW) has become ALL-GLOSSY since Dec. 2006, and therefore, more presentable and appealing to readers;
3) AW is now distributed FREE to as many as 150 retail outlets in Greater Madison;
4) AW has more than 320 paid subscribers throughout the state, mostly schools, libraries, and individual homes;
5) In November 2007, AW expanded to Milwaukee, with more than 20 retail outlets, mostly restaurants, shops, schools, and
libraries. We have increased our circulation by 25% due to this expansion.
6) AW’s online version, www.asianwisconzine.com, has new features in addition to the complete print edition: Issue-focused
online-only articles or columns from Asian American legislators and other local or national organizations; and my video reports
and clips of local events or happenings relevant to Asian Americans (linked to YouTube). Please check it out. Our online unique
hits have reached 16,500+ to date.
Most importantly, I’ve  been blessed with friends who are always there for me, writing or helping in so many different ways to keep
Asian Wiz going: Paul Kusuda, John Pinto, Mei-Feng Moe, Debby Tewes, Shang Zuo, Shree and Lakshmi Sridharan, Krishna
Sijapati, Sharyl Kato, Agnes Cammer, Malcolm Broom and Laura Salinger. My list won’t be complete without my best friend and
soul mate, Jonathan Gramling, whose support has been limitless and unconditional.
Other supporters, whose constant presence all these years makes all the difference “between life and death,” are AW’s most
valued advertisers and subscribers. I’ve been blessed because most of them immediately recognized the importance of this
magazine. They knew, then and now, that Asian Wisconzine has to grow because it is needed. They like how Asian Wisconzine is
evolving in the community, and they want to help continue its positive development. I’m truly blessed.
Now that I am armed with all these blessings, I am ready to face another year of challenges.
I’m forever indebted to God. He is truly just and generous.
Counting my blessings
